1,175 secondary school students have already received professional guidance from active workers to help them choose their higher education options
Lanaldi is one of the Novia Salcedo Foundation’s most exciting projects regarding the socio-economic changes it proposes in connection with the International Youth Employment Campaign it is conducting. Lanaldi’s main purpose is to enable professionals to host young people interested in a given field of employment throughout a full workday. In this manner, secondary school students will be able to experience the day-to-day work of an expert in a given position and they will be able to see whether the job they want to do in the future is really what they expected. They will take part in interviews, meetings, visits or any other activity connected with that specific position.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Novia Salcedo Foundation has launched the programme. To date, 214 organisations, 384 professionals and 1175 students have taken part and have also received training at the Lanaldi workshops. Companies like BBVA or Decathlon, as well as more modest businesses, such as B3 interiorismo or ColaBoraBora, to mention just a few. This year, students from 12 schools will be participating in the programme.
The fields offered are extensive. Architecture, biology, education, health… endless opportunities for young people to study the options that they find most interesting regarding their future careers. The truth is that not all of them have a clear idea of what they want to do at this age. There are always other things in their minds that prevent them from looking beyond tomorrow. Most adults who, at their age, were in a similar situation of not knowing what to do with their lives, would have appreciated receiving guidance from a professional or, even, as is now the case, accompanying him during a full workday.
Lanaldi is an opportunity not only for young people, but also for the professionals that host them. “The programme enables us to better understand young people, their anxieties, values, academic qualifications…”, said one of the professionals who has participated in the programme. However, this is not the only positive assessment. Another Lanaldi member clearly explained his position by saying: “it does away with much of the fear regarding their future when they have to face their first job, fear of not knowing what a real business is like? -“.
Anyone interested in cooperating with the Novia Salcedo Foundation on this project may visit the Lanaldi website and fill-in the form addressed to professionals. Your participation is important for all the young people who are not sure what to do with their future. Try it!
