Iberdrola, through the Novia Salcedo Foundation, has joined the Pegasus project based on an agreement signed today in Bilbao. The key goal of this programme, coordinated by the Foundation, is to add youth employment to the Global Human Development Agenda through the Declaration, by the United Nations General Assembly, of the Youth Employment Decade.
Iberdrola is the first major company listed on the Ibex 35 to lend its support to this initiative, which aims to ensure that the Youth Employment Decade is an opportunity and a driving force for the economic and social transformation of organisations and countries through the search for mutually acceptable solutions to the unemployment or precarious employment situation affecting young people all over the world.
The president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán, has stressed that “this support must be seen as part of our commitment to the creation of stable and quality employment, and to the training and development of people: in total, and as a major company, Iberdrola employs over 350,00 people worldwide“.
Under the agreement, which will extend initially until the end of 2017, Iberdrola will contribute its experience to enable the Pegasus project to incorporate tools that will allow young people who find employment to have sufficient information to design their career plans on various levels.
